NEW HERE?
Welcome, you have taken your first step into the Shó Hair Studio community.
If you are new to Shó Hair Studio, this page is designed to help you book the correct service from the start.
We often see new clients book appointments that don’t fully match their current hair, whether that’s underestimating regrowth, past colour history, or the amount of work needed to achieve their goal. When this happens, it can affect timing, pricing, and what we’re realistically able to complete in one appointment.
This page breaks down common hair situations and clearly links them to the service that best suits. The goal is simple: your stylist has the right amount of time booked, and you get the result you’re expecting on the day.
If you’re unsure at any stage, we strongly recommend booking a consultation before booking a colour service.
How to use this page
Find the description that best matches your hair right now
Book the service recommended under that scenario
If more than one section applies, always book the larger service or a consultation — this gives us flexibility rather than rushing on the day
Why We Recommend a Consultation for New Clients
A consultation allows us to assess your hair properly before committing to a service. This is especially important if you have previous colour, long regrowth, box dye, or are aiming for a significant change.
Booking a consultation helps us:
Assess your current hair condition, regrowth, and colour history
Determine what services are realistically achievable in one appointment
Allocate the correct amount of time and product for your hair
Avoid under-booking or over-booking services
Provide accurate pricing before your colour appointment
Create a clear plan for both your initial visit and future maintenance
Consultations protect both your results and your time in the salon.
Throughout this page, you’ll see five consultation options available to book via Client Diary. Each consultation is complimentary and designed to remove guesswork from your booking.
If you’re unable to attend a consultation prior to your appointment, you can add a complimentary consultation add-on when booking your service. This ensures your stylist has dedicated time at the start of your appointment to assess your hair before any work begins.
“How do I book a time that isn’t available online?”
If your preferred appointment time isn’t showing in our online booking system, you can use the Waitlist service.
Simply select any available slot, and write your preferred date and time in the notes section. Our team will do their best to accommodate your request and confirm your booking.
This is ideal if you:
Have a specific stylist in mind
Need a particular day or time that isn’t currently available
Want to secure a spot as soon as it opens
Using the Waitlist ensures we can keep your booking organised and get you the appointment you want without confusion.

Important Note for Box Dye & At-Home Colour Clients
If you have previously used box dye, henna, supermarket colour, or any form of at-home lightening, a strand test is required before any blonding or corrective colour service.
Box dye and home colouring products react unpredictably with professional lightener. A strand test allows us to safely assess how your hair will lift, how it will tone, and what services are realistically achievable without compromising hair health.
For this reason, clients with a history of box dye must attend a complimentary consultation prior to booking a colour service. This helps avoid unexpected results, timing issues, or the need to reschedule on the day.
If you’re unsure whether this applies to you, please book a consultation first, it’s always the safest starting point.
Still unsure?
If you can’t see a suitable time, are time-poor, or feel like your hair situation doesn’t fit neatly into one category, we recommend booking a consult or contacting the salon.
